The fundraising world is becoming increasingly competitive and donor dollar resources are not expanding. So, donors are becoming much more selective in determining where to spend those philanthropic dollars. So, what makes donors tick? What will encourage donors to give to us rather than them? This session will dive into donor motivational issues and showcase communication techniques – especially as pertains to endowments – that will captivate a donors’ attention and drive greater giving.

John H. Taylor Consulting

John is the Principal of John H. Taylor Consulting, LLC, an independent advancement consulting practice. Since 2016 he has also been a partner with Alexander Haas, an Atlanta-based fundraising consulting firm working on numerous significant projects requiring John’s skills and areas of expertise.

John formed one of the largest advancement-related listservs in the world, FundSvcs, with nearly 4,000 subscribers.  He has spoken at hundreds of conferences internationally, receiving the CASE Crystal Apple Award for outstanding teaching.  He is the founder, current member, and Former President of the Board of the Association of Advancement Services Professionals.  He received the AASP Jonathan Lindsey Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.  John was the editor for all three editions of the CASE Advancement Services book series, as well as the 3rd and 4th  editions of the CASE Guidelines.

With over a decade of experience working with K12 schools and higher education institutions’ fundraising efforts, Katie Haystead now oversees the partnerships team at Community Funded. Her passion for partner success and satisfaction aligns with Community Funded’s priorities and Katie’s unique background is well suited to manage the day to day operations of our partnerships team as well as new market acquisition.

Prior to joining the team at Community Funded, Katie served many roles within the Fundraising Division at Ruffalo Noel Levitz. Her experience ranges from working onsite and remotely with clients executing phonathon programs, developing annual giving strategies, onsite consultations and also developing multichannel strategies allowing for strong synergy between annual giving channels and creating strong major and planned gift pipelines.

Katie is based in Metro Detroit and is a graduate of Central Michigan University, where she worked for the phonathon for 3 years while working towards her History Major.
